“Building Docs” is a weekly essay (every Wednesday) about my experience as a medical student learning to become an effective and conscientious doctor. When you start medical school, you receive a white coat (it’s shorter than the one you get when you graduate though). During my ceremony, we were also given a book called A Little Book of Doctors’ Rules by Dr. Clifton K. Meador. In each essay, I use Dr. Meador’s rules as a guide to reflect on the principles necessary for practicing the “art” of medicine. And, with a little luck and lots of help, I’ll stumble upon something worthwhile that’s both helpful for me, and hopefully helpful for you too!
